We take a “deep water navy” approach to hiring, knowing that every role from our architects who conceptualize the buildings to the construction team members on site are essential to have a successful project.
New hires have a two day training called “Becoming StreetLights” where senior leadership each takes a block of time to explain a part of the company and the vision that has gone into making StreetLights what it is today. Every employee at StreetLights is a partner. By being involved in the project at the time of funding, they share in 10% of the profit of the deal at no cost to them. Every month, senior leadership holds a company-wide huddle to update employees on the financial state of the company and give team member recognition. StreetLights offers employees 401k matching, transparency in health insurance coverage, vision insurance and dental insurance as well as paid time off.
Our approach
Each region has a dedicated cross-functional team including developers, construction, portfolio managers, architects and interior designers. Teams set their own goals, meet daily and function as their own autonomous units, so that each team member is able to own the decisions for their projects. As the company grows, StreetLights adds new design-build teams to handle the new projects, ensuring that the scope of each team member is manageable. Hiring the right people is essential for StreetLights maintaining the quality that sets our projects apart.
